Service businesses are facing serious challenges due to investor churn.
Businesses in the service sector have recently faced serious challenges related to the outflow of investors. Against the background of a high key rate, many of them are beginning to prefer safer investments in bank deposits. In the current environment, franchise sales have dropped significantly as potential franchisees are not willing to risk their finances. These changes are forcing companies to re-pricing their services, even though there has been a general decline in consumer activity.
Entrepreneurs are looking for ways to adapt to the high key rate environment. According to many experts, the service sector as such has become less dependent on borrowed funds, especially when it comes to small and medium-sized businesses. In particular, representatives of the restaurant business note that many large chain establishments still resort to bank loans for their expansion. However, such loans are most often issued at floating rates, which, in an unstable economy, means that companies' expenses will initially increase, and this growth will eventually affect the cost of services.
On the other hand, small author's projects are often not supported by credit institutions. Therefore, they are forced to focus their efforts on attracting private investors, which is also becoming less attractive. Many such investors are now postponing their financial investments in anticipation of a more stable and secure environment. For example, according to information from open sources, to open a beauty salon franchise, you need to invest about 5 million rubles, and the declared profit is less than 500 thousand rubles. Investing the same money in the bank for a year, you can get about twice as much income. In such a context, it is difficult for small businesses to justify the need to take risks when more stable investments are already in the palm of their hands.
Many entrepreneurs realize that they need to find new ways out of the situation. For example, restaurants are beginning to emphasize additional services, such as delivery and takeout, to increase their revenues. Other companies are also looking for ways to improve customer service and create unique offerings that can attract consumers even in the face of high inflation and unpredictable financial markets.
Thus, the current situation in the service industry shows that while businesses do face serious challenges, they still have room to grow and adapt.
