FAS announced the initiation of proceedings against Kaustik JSC.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia (FAS) announced that a case has been initiated against Kaustik JSC for possible violations of antimonopoly legislation. According to a representative of the agency, the analysis of the competitive situation in the market revealed the fact of dominance of Kaustik JSC, whose share exceeds 50%.

In the course of the study FAS came to the conclusion that for the last two and a half years the costs of production and sale of synthetic hydrochloric acid do not correspond to the changes in prices for this product. This was the basis for initiating a case against the company.

In addition to the case against Kaustik, on November 19, FAS in Khakassia revealed violations in the activities of a gasoline seller. The agency suspected the company of abusing its dominant position in the market, which was expressed in the establishment of inflated small wholesale and retail prices for gasoline AI-92, AI-95 and diesel fuel. As a result of the proceedings, the organization became administratively liable.

Earlier, in July, the Tver Department of the Federal Antimonopoly Service also demanded that LLC Tvernefteprodukt, a subsidiary of Surgutneftegaz, stop pricing practices that differed for gasoline in Tver. The agency noted that the company holds a dominant position in the retail market of AI-92, AI-95 gasoline and diesel fuel.

These actions by the FAS emphasize the agency's activity in combating anti-competitive practices, as well as the emphasis on the need to comply with competition law on various commodity markets in Russia.
