Foreign companies began to look for business managers in Russia to continue their work on the Russian market.
Foreign investors are looking for ways not to wind down business in Russia by using workarounds: local partners, managers. Such a conclusion can be drawn from the sharply increased number of requests for such services. Such methods will allow them to continue working on the Russian market or quickly return to Russia after the stabilization of the foreign policy situation.
Consulting and legal companies receive a large number of requests from entrepreneurs who have announced the suspension of activities in the Russian Federation. This fact does not yet indicate the readiness of these enterprises to continue working in the Russian Federation. While they are assessing the opportunities and risks, they are analyzing what is more profitable, to leave completely or to act through local partners.
One of the obvious ways to continue operations is the transfer of management, that is, the signing of a trust management agreement with the inclusion of a condition on the possibility of repurchasing a business share in certain circumstances (option). Foreign companies are interested in reliable partners who will be able to preserve assets and facilitate the return of foreign investors to the Russian market. So far, this is not about making a profit, but about preserving existing assets.
Thus, representatives of the company that produces well-known cigarettes West and Davidoff announced the start of negotiations on doing business with a Russian legal entity, the manufacturer promised to pay for the work of 1,000 workers until all processes are completed.
However, this is not the only opportunity being considered by foreign businesses. Many are thinking of more drastic measures.
For example, there are reports that some companies are considering selling their business in Russia. There is no unanimity of opinion among foreign investors on the issue of when to sell their shares. Some agree to a prompt sale at current value, which is not always in their interests. Others are ready to wait for a more favorable market situation and higher prices. It is possible that some companies are guided by the recommendations given to them by representatives of government circles in their countries.
The method, which is now being considered by almost all companies that have suspended their activities in Russia, combines sales and management. The share is being sold at a conditional price on the terms of a possible repurchase in the future after the stabilization of the situation.
