The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) is working on measures to stabilize prices, according to media reports. For overpricing products and other violations, it is planned to punish not only the dominant companies in the market, but also other market participants, including intermediaries.

Currently, the FAS deals with cases of companies abusing their dominant or monopoly position in the market under antimonopoly law. Such organizations, among other things, are prohibited from setting and maintaining inflated prices for goods, signing an agreement on the division of market areas and territories, applying different prices under equivalent conditions and relationships, etc. Now it is planned to extend these norms to other market participants, in particular, to intermediaries. The attention is especially focused on suppliers and intermediaries who apply inflated prices during the period of increased demand for goods of certain positions.

Journalists at the Federal Antimonopoly Service were informed that a decision had been made to "improve" the antimonopoly legislation. The issue is being worked on until the final list of proposals is formed. Apparently, antitrust rules are planned to be extended to the entire market. Corresponding proposals are considered not only by the Federal Antimonopoly Service, but also by the United Russia party. It became known that Denis Kravchenko, chairman of the profile committee of the State Duma, addressed the chairman of the Supreme Council Boris Gryzlov.

The measures are motivated by the need to stabilize the pricing policy of large retail chains. The cost is formed on the wave of increased demand for non-market reasons and does not meet economic grounds. In some regions, there is a shortage of certain goods and a rule is introduced on the release of a certain amount of it in one hand.

It is known that the Federal Antimonopoly Service has already initiated a case on violation of antimonopoly law against the well-known retail chains Magnit and Pyaterochka. They are charged with synchronous insufficient supply of sugar to stores in the Voronezh region. This was reported by the antimonopoly service itself. In the event that a conspiracy is established and the elements of the offense are proven, the companies face a fine. When checking, sugar was found in warehouses, but it did not go to stores. Excessive consumer demand for this product was recorded at the end of March.
